http://JosephSmithMormon.com has articles and details about the life of the prophet Joseph Smith.

On a spring day in 1820 14-year-old Joseph Smith sought solitude in a grove of trees and prayed to know which church was true. God the Father and Jesus Christ, "two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description," appeared and spoke with him. This is a critical part of Mormon history.

Wondering which of the many churches to join, Joseph had followed the counsel in the Bible's book of James: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." The Lord told Joseph "that all the religious denominations were believing in incorrect doctrines" and that he was to await further instructions from on high. "In a state of calmness and peace indescribable," Joseph left that sacred grove knowing the reality of our Father in Heaven and His resurrected Son, Jesus Christ.

Joseph Smith's first vision stands today as the greatest event in world history since the birth, ministry, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. After centuries of darkness, the Lord opened the heavens to reveal His word and restore His Church through His chosen prophet.

Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, not once, but innumerable times throughout his life. He translated the Book of Mormon, organized the true Church of Jesus Christ upon the earth once more and restored the plain and precious truths which were lost due to the apostasy of men. He lived great and he died great in the eyes of God!

  • For being a non-believer, this was an excellent video. Well scripted, and masterfully reenacted. I believe this to be one of the best videos in regard to the LDS church that I've personally watched. For this I have a tremendous respect for the whole entire church, and its teachings. I was once Mormon.

  • I agree, this is a great video. You mentioned that you were "once Mormon." Are you no longer a member of the LDS Church then?

  • I love Joseph Smith. People say a lot of bad stuff about him, but a great deal of it is harshly exaggerated in bitterness just to have a go at him. Afterall, I would find it impossible to lie that I saw god for my whole life and never ever deny it, or tell anyone that I was lying!

  • I love this video its one of my favorites and i have alot of favorites

  • @Mr1afterlife

The LDS church is not becoming corrupt, the world is. Reveations for the church can only come through the prophet.

  • whats going on???

  • I'm a mormon and I could tell you this would be a good way to meet investigaters.

  • At one point in my life I was a member of the church yes. But for various reasons I'm no longer a member of the church. But I do miss some aspects of the church, but as a whole, I'm much more comfortable and appreciative as to where I currently reside in terms of my personal faith and belief.

In fact I've done much better having left the church. Having been able to build my own personal foundation, and lay my own bricks to my spiritual "belief" has been the greatest experience of my life.

  • I will add my testimony to this comment section. I have no doubt whatsoever and know as surly as I know that the sun will rise in the morning that Joseph Smith had the first Vision. I know this not of myself but received a divine witness of this fact. I cant tell you what to believe. I can only tell you what I now and how I came to know it. If you ask in faith with real intent you can know for your self that it is true too.

  • Even though I am fourteen and have been raised in the church, I still get teary knowing this actually happened, for us.

It's an absolutely wonderful feeling. Thank you for posting this. It's helping with my Young Women's Personal Progress greatly.
