The whaleshark, Rhincodon Typus, is a slow filter feeding shark that is the largest living fish species. It feeds on plankton and small fish. The species is believed to have originated about 60 million years ago. The Filipino term "Butanding" means "Gentle Giant." Donsol is nicknamed the "Whaleshark Capital of the World."
