Almost ten years to the day since MINI launched its revamp of the 1960s classic small car, BMW has revealed a move away from the design that made the iconic British brand famous around the world, with the launch of an electric scooter design concept.
While staying true to the features and aesthetics of the 1960s car, the design brief for the MINI E Scooter concept was to create a modern, 2-wheel vehicle suitable for built up, urban areas. The result is three individual scooter designs, all electrically powered and adapted to allow drivers to use a smart phone as the ignition key.
The three scooter concepts were unveiled today (23rd September 2010) in London by model Agyness Deyn. The first is a two-seater, produced to mirror the style of the current MINI prototype hatchback, currently on trial on British roads. The second is the most authentic of the three and includes classic features such as British Racing Green paintwork, brown leather upholstery and silver mirror caps. The third design draws on the distinctive graphics of the 'mod' era in which the original car was launched. The white body-colour is adorned with stickers while a Union Jack is visible through the perforated leather seat.
please, be serious, d'ont make a big publicity about nothing. this is just a prototype no one in his perfect mind would by a thing like this. To much price for so short range and hours of recharging... you must do something really good for normal people's use. Is a good idea bus no results

Well seems like a good idea, although i hate scooters with a passion. If they make an actual motorcycle i'll consider it.

The technology is there for long range elctric but if it was widely used the oil companies and the economies would go bust!!!
This is why veg oil in diesels will never be done on a grand scale !!!! veg oil is unlimited as its a crop based resorce.

As absolutely fabulous as this 'Mini' scooter looks, it is frankly risible that the travel range is limited to 30-miles. Electric vehicles seem to be as limited to a 30/40-mile range, as airplanes used to be limited to less speed than the speed of sound, of the sound barrier. At least a 90-mile range per charge, must be available, for scooterists, to take this Mini, seriously.
