The easiest way to memorize Bible verses is to love them. As a child my grandfather made me memorize Psalm 23, 127, 131, 133. The only verses I ever consciously memorized. After that my grandfather taught me to love my Bible. That is what makes folks accidentally memorize verses. If you give people 100 Bible verses to study and they don't love reading their Bible, they will end up only knowing those 100 Bible verses...and won't go any further. David "rewrote" the verse? The Holy Spirit?
