In this video Robert is showing you an unboxing of a portable solar charger that he purchased off eBay for around $20.00.

In the video, Robert tests the solar charger with an IPhone and it works flawlessly. The device can be charged by either solar energy, or by a direct connection to a laptop or desktop which is very neat.

  • i have spent enough money on buying cheap portable chargers and a solar one so that to charge my iphone while i'm on vacation ,but none of them work properly .So now i am thinking of buying this one .Can you please tell me if it can charge iphone 3GS so that i wont throw more money away ?

  • @alexandereno I recommend buying a "name brand" version as the one I bought in this video stopped working after maybe 4 or so months.

  • cool

It has a built in battery that is charged by the solar cell I assume... No doubt a 900 MA Lith Ion battery or there about?

And you can charge that battery indoors via a usb port?

Older phones may have an adapter available for a usb port charge as well, I know I have found them for nearly every device I have (Sansa by Sandisk) for example

    FYI

There are 12V car to USB and 120V AC to USB adapters everywhere on E Bay and other on line stores.

So regardless you can charge anything

  • This one here has a 800mAh battery inside, and yes, it can be charged in doors via a usb port .

And yes, very true, I actually used a 12V car to USB adapter in another video.

This here is just great for when you are on the go away from the city, or when you go hiking/camping of some sort.

  • I'm wondering... how long it would take to fully charge the iPhone when the battery is almost dead.

  • I want to shake it to charge it.

  • Do you think it would be possible to make a charger for an iPhone that is powered by kinetic energy? I'm planning on trying to make one.

  • I think ill buy one, really handy. sweet
