Barkley was not a good fighter. He just had Hearns number and that was the only highlight of his career. The 2 battles. The rematch..........hearns was still good, but was not as good as he was a few years from this. He was more slower, flat footed.

Many forget this was late in Hearns career- hell, the first fight was late in his career.Hagler really took alot out of Hearns-he was never the same after that fight. Hearns pre-Hagler would have stopped Barkley in 3. That not to slight Mookie, he was a warrior to the bone!

I thought Hearns won the fight. He definitely won the 12th.
Saying Barkley had Hearn's number ignores two things. The first fight Hearns was destroying Barkley in one of the worst beatings. Then he landed one shot.
This fight was very close, and WAY past Hearn's prime.
If they fought 100 times in their primes, Hearns probably would have one 85 of them.

damn, joe goosen looks young!!

It's all well and good to say Iran had Hearns number.......don't forget, Hearns was at his best in the early to mid 80's.

Iran's trainer played Billy Fox in the great movie "Raging Bull". He was the fighter who Jake Lamotta took a dive for the mob. He called himself a 'mamaluke" a 'mamaluke ganea' what ever that means.

@cLosbiGbanG forrest beat moseley twice in the amateurs AND the pros,i guess some guys just beat some guys, styles make fights..

Barkley was announced bankrupt today...damn good fighter
Barkley is the one guy that seemed to have Tommy's number. His brawling style gave Hearns trouble.
Not to take anything away from Iran, but Hearns should have been retired by now.
