This is Stage 6, Lesson 2 of Justin's Beginner Guitar Course.

This video shows you the chord changes you should be working on for this stage.

The Justinguitar Beginners Guitar Course, a series of over 100 lessons on guitar for beginners. Text support is on the web site and also in a proper old skool paper book which can be ordered from the web site of your local music store :)

Taught by Justin Sandercoe.

Full support at the justinguitar web site where you will find hundreds of lessons on a wide range of subjects, and all the scales and chords that you will ever need! There is a great forum too to get help, no matter what the problem.

And it is all totally free, no bull. No sample lessons, no memberships, no free ebook. Just tons of great lessons :)

To get help with this lesson (and for further info and tabs), find the Lesson ID in the video title (like ST-667 or whatever) and then look it up on the Lesson Index page of justinguitar.com

Have fun :)

  • u r the best :)

  • You are so encouraging and friendly, thanks for your videos :)

  • umm i cant get my B string ringing any tips why that is?

  • It is a wise comment to say that you need to practice things that are difficult to you .

  • the c isn't really "added," it's already a part of the chord

    f major is "f - a - c" all naturals

sorry just couldn't help being a theory nerd

  • why do you call the chord old school? people still use them and call that an f with an added c in the bass note, i think. anyways i love the lessons and thank you for all the time you are putting into this. you are the man!!!

  • Apart from the different sound it also depends on the progression. If a C follows the G, then I play the G with the pinky on the high E so I can switch to the C more easily.

  • That's what I tend to do, but as Smalas points out, the voicing of Open G and Barre G are different (just like the two common ways to play Em7).

  • I think Justin wants to teach people the basic chords well, before he shows the "advanced" ones. I think this Is a great idea, I learned the basic chords long ago, but I still watch these videos here and practice it...and it is really helpful if you want to play faster and cleaner.
