In this quirky "game show"-like event, teams of three players competed for cash prizes. Frames 1, 4 and 7 were "strike frames," where teams got only one chance at a strike in frames 1 and 4 (for 30 points), and all three players rolled for a strike in frame 7 (each strike worth 40 points). The other frames were either spare or split frames, with 30 points for a conversion on the first try, 20 points for a conversion on the second try.

This is Semi-Final match #1, pitting the team of Mark Roth, Dotty Fothergill and Bill Lillard against the team of Gil Sliker, LaVerne Carter and Buzz Fazio. The winning team gets one shot at the big money split, the 6-7-8-10.

Jay Randolph on play-by-play. Steve Neff on color. Golden Triangle Lanes, Irving, TX. Exact date unknown (shown on a tape-delay basis), Fall, 1979.

  • I wish i had a cool name like buzz fazio..

  • Haha, funny watching old bowlers with their ancient equip. By the way, any league bowler that has knowledge about succeeding knows that speed isn't everything. Doing well in bowling comes from smooth, consistent releases, and the ability to adjust to varying lane conditions. A 15 mph league bowler will show up some guy trying to throw his arm out any day.
