Dr. Charmaine Yoest, President & CEO of AUL Action, appeared on Gov. Mike Huckabees Fox News show Huckabee to discuss Nadya Suleman octuplet case with Dr. Art Caplan.
you know it really really troubles that so called conservatives still bitch about this pro life issue. if octo-mom wanted to have babies through artificial insemination, thats her decision, she is being pro life. Yet these dickhead conservatives are hypocrites, oh she is an unfit mother, she's on welfare, her family hates her. How many moms across the country who had babies the natural way or raped are living in poverty , and have no choice but to abort. these douchbags just ignore the issue
Absolutely...one of the problems I personally see with IVF is that it allows embyros to be seen as *commodities*. If humans are "commodities" at conception, by that logic we are *still* commodities. I bet no-one would like to think of themselves in that light.
I really think people in the area should be allowed to adopt sets of two of the eight babies. It should be agreed beforehand that the mother may see the babies at least once a month, but these adopted babies would belong legally to the adoptive parents.
Yoest was seriously lame. She did not answer the questions very well and could have done better. I am pro life and think Suleman is strange but did the right thing in not aborting any of the babies.

I thought Yoest did fine with the 60 seconds she got to speak....her comment about "creating" brought the Doctor to agree with her which only helps.

She did make a good comment:
"It's not that you're implanting eight, it's that you're *creating* eight."
Good point.

Very good discussion by both Yoest and the Doctor. Lots of ethical issues colliding on this case!
