This is a poster comparison between the two largest murder ideologies of our time; nazism and communism. The striking resemblance says a lot of the nature of the ideologies and their connection to each other.

Special thanks to the makers of The Soviet Story!

  • My issue is with equating fascism with socialism. The nazis spent the 20s crushing the left. Socialists, communists, democrats, unionists all went to camps, were murdered in the street, or stopped participating in politics. The books the nazis famously burned in their rallies were written by liberals, leftists, and Jews. That being said, the USSR wasn't very socialist once Stalin purged most of the original bolsheviks. They were similar, but not very socialist, not in a Marxist sense

  • @Danarchistic1

Stalin and the Great Purge clearly illustrates how a small step you need to take from Marxism to become fascist. Before the Great Purge started, Stalin started out already in the 20s by eliminating all marxists with different views to himself. Once this was successful and he had secured absolute power, he went on with "the rest" covering everything from dangerous ethnic minorities to kulaks and intellectuals. Moreover, the nazis persecuted the right as well...

  • @wookieinheat I agree that Stalinism and fascism were competing totalitarian systems out to control as much territory as they could. I disagree with the assertion that Nazism was some branch of communism. Communism is a theoretical utopia, a classless, stateless society that never happened. Communism is international class-solidarity, fascism is about suppressing class struggle in the interest of the state. One reinforces the state, one seeks to eliminate the concept of 'state'

  • @Danarchistic1 "If Nazis were communist, why did they put communists in concentration camps"

when there are two rival gangs in a city, do they cooperate and help each other or compete for control of turf and kill each other? communism and fascism were two competing forms of totalitarianism, each vying to destroy the other and conquer europe. hence the standoff that was the cold war, after WW2 the only thing preventing stalin from running over europe's decimated armies were nukes.

  • @Danarchistic1 you remind me of my friend who bases all his political views on idealism rather than reality.

to use a practical example: as ur probably aware, there are numerous sects within islam (i.e. sunni vs shiite), each sect considers the others to be heretics. does this make arabs less muslim than persians, or do we consider them all muslims because they identify themselves as such?

your interpretation of communist principles and stalin's adherence to them is irrelevant.

  • @wookieinheat I've seen 'the soviet story', i didn't agree with it. communism has to be rooted in class-conscious internationalism, otherwise, its not going to lead to communism (the stateless, classless society theorized by Marx), its going to lead to some version of fascism or some other nationalism-obsessed ruling-class. By Marx's definition, Stalin's USSR wasn't on the road to communism, nor was Hitler's Germany.

  • @MrReco12 "Most of Hitler's allies were very religious(even theocratic)"

yes, particularly haj amin al-husseini, aka the fuhrer of the arab world; someone who is now defended by liberals.

  • @Danarchistic1 and yes, hitler sent german liberals off to death camps, not merely because they were liberals, but simply because they opposed him. in france where the liberals cooperated with the nazis, no such thing occurred.

also, this clip is from a movie called "the soviet story", it goes into great detail explaining how national socialism was just a branch of communism with some right-wing aspects (i.e. nationalism) mixed in; i highly recommend you watch it.

  • @Danarchistic1 liberals today like to think that fascism was a purely right-wing ideology and that liberals were always opposed to it. the reality of it is that hitler united socialists in vichy france, communists in russia and muslims under the nazi banner. the nazis sought to destroy capitalism and supported the muslims in opposing the league of nations mandate for the creation of a jewish state; support for israel and capitalism are the main tenants of right-wing ideology.

  • @PiretBCN

The National Government regards the two Christian confessions [i.e. Catholicism and Protestantism] as factors essential to the soul of the German people. ... We hold the spiritual forces of Christianity to be indispensable elements in the moral uplift of most of the German people."

I have a quite a few songs from the Spanish civil war(the republican side), i take it would have supported Franco, Hitler and Mussolini like most of the Right did.

  • @MrReco12 The Abbot of Montserrat refused to meet and greet Himmler when he visited it because of Himmler sending his colleagues to his "holiday camps". p.s. I checked your channel and it looks "a bit" communist. I never discuss politics with communists or nazis or other people who believe in extreme ideologies. It leads nowhere and just makes your blood boil. If that's the case then this conversation is now over. Have a nice day!

Many priests supported Nazism and other versions of fascism.
