The Greek-Italian War

On October 28th, 1940 Fascist Italy launched an unprovoked attack upon Greece. Despite being outnumbered and outgunned, the Greek army defeated the Italian invasion and launched a full scale counterattack driving Mussolini's army out of Greece. This was the first Allied victory of the Second World War.

@THXRISTOP never the less, war is war and both sides did there jobs; to kill. The Greeks were innocent, but they didn't give a **** who the enemy was, they did what ever possible to protect their land. Of course, when the Italians were walking through villages, they were very friendly for the most part (still several cases of rape and pillaging, eg. war is war) but that doesn't mean Greece fought an enemy who were pacifists. The Italians main targets when bombing were not soldiers, but civilians

Il Duce had to do something. He stood up to Germany when Hitler assassinated Dollface of Austria and Hitler never forgave him. The problem was Italy would not be ready until 1942-3 for European style warfare and he jumped the gun. Defeated France defeated Italy in JUN1940, the Brits defeated Italy in Egypt/Libya and then little Greece handed Italy its ass. How bad was it? It was 1912-3 all over again with Italy being Turkey!!! Greece could have knocked Italy out of the war in 1940!!!
