A trip to Spain wouldn't be complete without tasty tapas, and at Mesón Rincón de la Cava in Madrid, you can taste it all. From Jamón Ibérico (a cured ham made from black-footed Iberian pigs, produced only in Spain) to Tortilla Española (omelet-style dish made with potatoes and egg) and of course, the young Spaniards' favorite beverage Kalimotxo, we sample the three types of tapas: un pincho, una tapa and un racion.

Tip: There are three types of tapas: un pincho, una tapa and un racion
Tip: "Un pincho" means "mouthful" and "una tapa" means a saucerful
Tip: Jamón Ibérico is cured ham from black-footed Iberian pigs produced only in Spain
Tip: Piquillo peppers are typically grown in northern Spain
Tip: Fried anchovies are popular in northern Spain, Cantabria and Cataluña
Tip: Manchego is a sheep's milk cheese made in the La Mancha region
Trick: Every batch of piquillo peppers has an extremely spicy pepper
Trick: Fried anchovies or "anchoas fritas" are surprisingly not fishy tasting
Trick: Kalimotxo (or Calimocho) is equal parts Coca-Cola and red wine
Technique: Acorn-only diet gives the ham a rich mixture of salt, fat and sweetness
Technique: Tortilla Española is cooked omelet-style, made from potatoes and egg
Technique: Kalimotxo is popular among young Spaniards, helps with wine appreciation

  • why is there caribbean music as an accompaniment to a spanish food programme?

  • @slicklando This is some of the stock music we use to accompany our videos. Usually the videographer makes the decision once they start editing.

  • @BehindtheBurner seems like a real shame. however I didn't mean to harshly criticize.overall I liked the format of the show(bar the music) and i believe you are probably 1 of the few video's on here to show case Spanish food in an informal but still informative way which i would have liked to seen expanded to maybe include a wider variety of regional cuisine and eclectic choice of say salsa or flamenco music well nough said and better luck.

  • @slicklando Totally fine! We always approve of criticisms and opinions. We do love our Spanish food here and wanted to make if exciting and laid back at the same time. Thanks!
