    ball end of string sat in a wire terminal which fits on the top of a tension rod & the other end of the string goes into a guitar tuning peg which is wedged in a tuning rod on the other side of the drum.

    Thanks for answering this question. I saw you live in Louisville last year and took my bass apart a few days later to try and recreate the stringed drum with a thicker string, but couldn't find a way to connect it well. Will be going back to it now
