OSATv TouchLine host, Anthony Totera, interviews Patrice Gheisar, former Canadian Soccer League player and currently Assistant Coach of Portugal FC and Coach of the 2010 U18 Boys Ontario Cup Champion Vaughan Azzurri Huskies, on why he stays involved in the game, at what age to begin serious 5 days per week training, the importance of small-sided games to improve technical skills, the difference between physical ability versus technical ability at certain age levels, the often misplaced focus on winning instead of player development in Ontario`s lower age divisions, the underfunding of CSL players and coaches and the roadblocks to training and performance at the elite level when coaches and players come to the field tired after their day job, the importance of the CSL in providing opportunities for youth to continue playing and developing their full potential, and the importance of continuing to improve officiating in the province in order to increase enjoyment of the game.
