  • But if the isle of man was an independent country, then why dont they have a team at the olympics? Wouldnt he then not be allowed to race for Britain as hes from another country?

  • he also has a british racing licence, and raced in the british road race championships, so doesnt that make him a briton?

and you done need a passport to enter the isle of man....

  • @aldrinstaana 53x11 most likely.

  • do you have idea if what gearing combination he use in his sprint

  • maybe 76kph??

  • Cavendish goes at 70kph... lol xD

  • theres only one sprinter who can keep up with cavendish and his name is usain bolt!!

  • there arent enough top end cyclists from the island to make an olympic cycling team...

you need to remember the total population of the island is 80,000..

we do have allot of good cyclists compared to our countries population...but not enough to make an olympic team.

  • He rode at the Commonwealth Games for the Isle of Man, but he rides for Team GB at the Olympics the same way that riders from Scotland do. Anyway why would he want to ride at the Olympics, or even the worlds for an Isle of Man team? This is a rider who wants to win, and with an Isle of Man team he would be reducing that chance. No offense to them or anything but he does say in his autobiography that he only knows 3 riders from the island who would last the neutralized zone at the TdF

  • It's not a matter of pedantry it's a matter of geographical fact. The isle of man is not part of great britain. That was the point I was making, you seem to be confused about what I was saying.

  • I'm from Jersey which is also not a part of the UK or Great Britain, but is a part of the British Isles like the Isle of Man. If i were racing at International Level i would be representing England or GB the same as Cavendish...Get over it, that's how it works...

  • Holy hell, nice job on the pedantry. For all intents and purposes, he's a Brit, get over it.
