One Sweet Day// A Delena (Tragic Death) One Shot

That night was a cold and windy one, along with the rain pouring down from the heavens. Demi was sitting on her bed, laying her head on her best friend's shoulder, Selena. Demi had stage 4 Cancer and knew that she was going to die at any moment. She didn't want to die in a hospital; she wanted to breathe her final breath with the person that was always there for her since her parents left.

As the rain was trickling on the roof, the 2 friends were silent and just wanted to be there for each other. "Demi?" Selena tried to talk to start a conversation with Demi, the last one that they may ever have.

"What is it?" Demi asked

"Promise me that when you...die, don't haunt me, Ok?"

Demi giggled at what Selena said...both of them did.

"If you promise never to forget me, then I won't"

"I could never forget about you"

"Thank you" Demi thanked Selena with a smile on her face

"And Selena...when the wind kisses you, don't be afraid and just remember, that's just me" She reminded Selena. "I won't" Selena answered almost ready to cry. For all these years her best friend was able to stay strong, endure the pain and still deliver an amazing performance on stage while she couldn't do anything. But that's not what Demi wanted her to think, Demi always reminded her that just being there for her meant so much more and that she understood that if that's what life is, then Demi believed that she had more important things to do up there. That making people smile with her voice, her songs and her laugh was done, and that she passed with flying colors.

"Selena" Demi called for her "Thank you" she thanked her with her last whisper. And with that, Selena could feel that Demi, her best friend was gone. She decided to hold her hand and stay there for a little while. As the seconds and the minutes went on, the soft gentle wind entered through the open window, and slowly touched Selena's cheek. A tear drop finally came out of her eyes as she knew that Demi was there with her, she still wanted Selena to smile, and so Selena held Demi for the last time and in her presence smiled again. Knowing that Demi's pain was over, Selena felt a knife in her chest pulled out and that Demi was smiling over her with the smile that made everyone else smile back.
"Demi..., when I see you again that would be the sweetest day,... that one sweet day"
