Barnetby Station 15 December 1990

One of my first video expeditions was to Barnetby station on 15 December 1990. At that time the line from Retford (Low Level) to Barnetby was threatened with the withdrawal of its passenger services and I wanted to travel over it prior to the axe falling, (thankfully it never did).

I had visited Barnetby once before on a Saturday lunchtime, and not much had been happening then. This time I was bowled over by the amount of freight traffic passing through. I particularly like the shot of Tinsley depots 37003, carrying her unofficial namer 'Tiger Moth'.

This was the only BR station I have ever visited that had a lit coal fire - and how welcome it was after freezing outside for an hour! No doubt todays pathetic 'health and safety' enforcers would have something to say about an unguarded open fire!

Nice vid good to see these sector loco's on here + 003 beast dat one! The 2nd bogie train with peds on one sounded very poorly i take it the train continued anyway after the signal check?

@gavin37688 Yep, the Peds struggled on OK once the peg was pulled off!

Shame that those BR ass holes ripped all the Victorian stations out so to keep the costs down. If they had not wasted so much money sending locos out and about with two or so wagons then maybe BR would have survived. Poor running of it was the problem with far to many locos running around when they should have been switched off.
