@ShadeAKAhayate well, after few fiascos involving the troops of Germany's allies being annihilated and/or losing their morale and retreating, exposing the flanks of the neighboring german units, I'd say germans would have been less than smart to even think about turning against the one ally that was able to hold it's own against the Red Army without much help in terms of personnel. At least not before taking time to recover from the losses from the Russia campaign.

@Bristow414 Ít´s easy to show for example with center-periphery -model, how badly nowdays situation with nation borders understood through ultra-nationalistic sunglasses fits to the real situation in "old-Sweden". Te core areas of Stockholm centered country were a long time Stockholm Uppsala and Turku and surrounding areas. Those were the cities with universities. Then there were semi- periphery the coastal areas of the country. And Periphery mostly Karelia, Norrland etc. places.

@Bristow414 And how were ordinary people treated better in Geatland or Svealand than in Finland? As I said the areas which were so called occupied territories had the hardest burden like Halland and Skåne. Tell me the historian, who shows anything else. the King of Svea won the Geats (in nowdays Swedish hartland) and then the Finns, Tavastians and Karelians were annexed to the Kingdom. Those areas were understood as Sweden proper. The nowdays map doesn´t tell the situation then.

@PohjolaNorden Yes, there wasnt any "nation of Finns", but there were still Finns.
Same laws? It doesnt matter if Finns are the only ones who were treated like garbage. The fact is, that under Russian rule, Finns received privileges, that they could only dream of under the rule of Sweden.

@Bristow414 Where did you get that. Sweden proper had four parts in past times Svealand, Finland, Geatland and Norrland. Those parts had all same laws everywhere. Other areas like Skåne or Halland in nowdays South-Sweden were understood as occupied territories and had harder taxasation etc.
Your thinking lacks understanding that there was not any nation of Finns at all those days. And whole Sweden was in very bad situation After the Great Northern War. Specially Finland, because of cossacs.
-
@PohjolaNorden Swedes humiliated Finns for hundreds of years and considered them as sub-humans. Russians never did that. Otherwise they would have kept Finns as shitty conditions as Swedes did. Yes, there was political reasons. So what? Has there ever been decisions made without political reasons? I doubt that. Better good things, with political reasons, than NO GOOD THINGS AT ALL!
And you are continually switching between Russia and USSR even thought these are 2 different countries. Not wise
At many parts, it's more flattering than what we sang about you russians. The part about returning Finland to the finns (2:04 - 2:19, according to the translation) really cracked me up, though.

Absolutely. Mannerheim's line was a masterpiece. Victory with losses 1:20 is not a true victory. Shame that practically no european countries helped Finland. Yes, yes, a bit of vehicles and bullets here and there, but overall - Europe betrayed Finland. Hitler WOULD have helped if he wasn't tied by the Molotov-Ribbentropp pact. If he did - we russians would've probably be screwed up. And everyone who denies that, should have really studied some history beyond what's written in the schoolbooks...
