Christianity, Religion and Women: Misogyny in the Bible

Women don't come out very well in the Bible. Maybe it's a sign of the times. Female equality is a recent concept and is not taken into account in the Bible. Maybe sexism is right and the Bible is right. Maybe sexism is wrong and the Bible is wrong.

The wise Solomon didn't have much nice to say about the ladies either. Some of his proverbs may elicit a snigger, but to be included in a religious text that people are meant to live by? Either the Bible was meant to have a moment of comedy at the expense of women or, or, well I can't think of an alternative.

St Paul was picked by God to tell the known world about Him. Part of Paul's ministry involved writing letters to churches, communities and his own helpers. His letters may be positive towards God, but they are misogynistic when it comes to women. Either women had wronged him in earlier life, or maybe he didn't like them in the first place.

@tdrpowerl thanks for your comment. To be fair, God doesn’t just hate women. He hates the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. He hates homosexuals and, depending on where you were born, people who use contraception.

He hates people who work on Sundays, people who don’t believe in him and people who are proud, envious of others, liars and blasphemers, who he will happily send to hell.

Other than that, He is love. This doesn’t make sense to me!

The people who stole the original stories from Afrika weren`t Afrikan people. They were sexist people in there nature. The bible isn`t that old, the stories are older then the bible...The people who stole the stories them even got some things wrong!

You hit the nail on the head- and what's worse is going to a Christian school and having to read the Bible every day since you were a little kid, like me. Having it rubbed in your face and not being able to speak out (at risk of being suspended/expelled) is a horrible feeling. *sigh* Again, accurate and great video. :)

@Mirani2 i pity them(both men and women who share her/his thoughts) because they are too afraid to step outside of society's role for them. i don't consider everyday people who believe in sexism as enemies. the ones i do consider enemies are the people who have political power to enforce their beliefs on others. whether we're talking sexism racism,etc.
