WWE Smackdown VS Raw sucks - This is what THQ Wrestling games used to be like

I hate what the Smackdown series has become. Ever since they began the Smackdown VS Raw series they started limiting the games and taking the elements of fun from previous games out of the new ones. All with the indirect excuse being to make the games more "realistic".

It's gotten so bad that with SVR2010 you can't even have JACKETS to PANTS in CAW mode because according to the developers, it's not "realistic".

What's bothering about this is that they are doing a piss poor job at the realism. It's not like you have to make a game unecessarily limited, sluggish and boring in order for it to be realistic. A game can be realistic and still be fun.

Also, they have very cheap tactics in business.

With the upcoming SVR11 they are promising a weapon physics engine that has been on the market for 5 YEARS. It's the same system that is present in the Day of Reckoning games for Gamecube, also made by THQ. They could have put it in a very long time ago but they didn't, and it was a conscious business decision by them.

They are putting things into the games that should have been in them a VERY long time ago, and the only reason they do this is to slowly milk the consumers for money.

And it works, because the people who buy the SVR games buy them because they are WWE fans and want to play as their wrestlers. That's the only demand that they have. Most often also, the consumers are children.

Their business strategy has been as following: Release several games that are practically the same while modifing very little overall so that when drastic changes and updates finally occur in a future game, that future game will look much more appealing.

Don't spend your money on the SVR games. And don't support a industry that isn't interested in giving you a GREAT game. As a costumer, you shouldn't settle for sub-quality.




Anyway. This was a nice way to start the winter. :]

Me and Kerio were hanging out one day and decided to play some SYM and HCTP. We were both amazed/reminded of how awesome and fun HCTP is. Even the graphics are gorgeous and shiny on that game.

So we decided to make an old school video using both these games. Double teams, dives, tables. No edits or shit like that. These games are so good that they don't even need edits. It's not like that Smackdown vs Raw shit that came after.

The approach you take when making a video with older games is very different. Since the games are good and fun to play you actually play them, for fun. And when playing the game you tend to think of cool spots. "Hey, that's something we could do".

This isn't the case with the never Smackdown games. You don't even play the games because they aren't good nor fun. So when you decide to make a video you look at the move list and think of things you can do instead.

There's a whole different approach you take there, making videos with the older Smackdown games is more practical and fun. With the newer games it's more theoretical.


I think that may also be the reason as to why we don't make that many videos anymore. The Smackdown VS Raw games just aren't good and making videos with those games isn't the same kind of good ol' fun that HCTP had to offer.

So this video is also kind of a tribute to those older Smackdown games. Enjoy and please do give some feedback.

That game is shit in a box but yet people continue to support it. You make a video game company to & for the people and you'll earn my respect.

@montez1016 Nah, that's not every company known to man. Saints Row is hardly a bitchass watered out game series, they just add stuff to that game and try to improve it every year. SR1 was better then 2 but that is a different matter.

Look at the creators of Super Meat Boy. That is a game MADE to please it's audience and it's creators are dudes who promote piracy. There are good gaming companies.
