Sure, will try my best. Song is about the old nursary book. Chorus says, Letters aren't faded away, leaves not fallen off, drawings aren't smuged. Still remember like the old days, lessons of the nursary book.
Versus are about each letter in the Sinhalese (native language, only spoken in Sri Lanka)alphabet, related to pictures. Hope this helps.

the short 2-3 word sentences emphasising the phonetic awareness in the second and third verses are equivalent to kindergarten education system in the western world -- i still remember those sentences in my first school books back in sri lanka
Edward Jayakodi actually sang the other version - not sure if it is the first version tho

@sailormoon114 They are talking about the alphabet and the importance of knowing and understanding it. I do not know word for word, but, I am able to somewhat figire it out from the cideo and some of the words what is it about.
Very beautiful. This song kind of applies to the writing systems of all languages and the importance that these be retained for future generations.
I was wondering about it a few months ago. Is there a Tamil version of this song?
