Actually, in the manga they explain in the back of the book that Bonkura is actually derived from an old Japanese phrase that came from a game were the score was called Bon. There was a man with the job of calculating the Bon and if he couldn't do it fast enough, or if he was wrong he was called Bon ni kurai "Dense with the Bon".
Over time, it became simply Bonkura. And now, it means "Osaka, Tomo and Kagura"!! XD
