If it was good for Trevor Horn, The Beastie Boys, and pretty much every pioneering producer in the last 30 years... then it's good for us too. Live Sampling is back in Reason 5 and Record 1.5. But before you start pitching your burp noises up 3 octaves we thought we'd teach you the basics of the process.

great tutorial. I have been trying to mimic the sampled guitar sound in the video. i sampled my guitar, and setup a FilterDFlange combi connected to the NNXT, but cant seem to get that delayed sound. Anyone wanna give me some hints?

If I remember correctly from when I made this, I used the little red DDL-1 delay in Reason and probably set it to '2' steps, about 50% wet/dry, and with a feedback knob around 10 o'clock on the dial position.

Amazing how REASON didn't even figure they should add a "MONO/STEREO" switch. It is very hard to figure out how to record in MONO, thus everything i record is either on the left or the right side. Anyone know a way around this? I have an external soundcard (interface) and am using a PC (vista).

Reason's live sampling input works the way a lot of hardware machine inputs work (and even a lot of home VCRs). If you plug into the left sampling input ONLY, then it works in mono. If you plug into both, it records a stereo sample. If you're hooking up a mono source then just make sure the right input of the sampling input on the back of the rack is unplugged and you'll get a mono recorded sample.

do you care to share what type of filters you use on the videos afterwards?
any info would be awesome!

I'm a big believer in Final Cut Pro's 3-way color corrector and some other in house filters. That's what I use more than anything else by far. Then a lot of my image capture style is also happening in the camera by my choice of shutter speed, lens aperture, iso, etc.

try adding another sound card to do internal recordings, route everything, go back in reason and switch audio in from the card. problem solved.

During installation you need to check ReWuschel on. It is an additional component made with Reason in mind to make it work.
