A viewer calls in trying to disprove the idea that there could have been an infinite amount of time before now. This is episode #548 which aired on 4/13/08.
@ebonmaskarade77 I would love to share a link to help you would with the proof that infinity cannot exists. but I keep getting an error when trying to post the link
@ebonmaskarade77 The argument is not "because time cannot be infinite, there for God exists" the argument would be "Time cannot be infinite, therefore the universe had a beginning" and that is further supported with scientific evidence towards the big bang. The claim "Time cannot be infinite" does have support.
@bjenkinsw16 actually the caller is wrong. Zeno'a paradox is only one example from a whole class of similar problems that only displays that applying math incorrectly leads to incorrect solutions (or non-solutions). You should study some advanced math, atleast calculus
@bjenkinsw16 "Time cannot be infinite" is a positive claim and therefore needs proof. "we could never get to "now" if time is infinite" is the same. No one has to explain how time works. If the argument is that because time cannot be infinite god must exist then one must demonstrate that time cannot be infinite. We aren't claiming it definitely is, but it's not evidence or proof of god until the rule is proven or at least backed up.
I'm not sure if the person who uploaded this is an atheist or not, but this video is showing that these two are stumped. The caller is correct. Infinity exists as a mathematical concept, but you cannot apply it to real life. After the caller explains how zeno's paradox doesnt apply, the host gets flustered and frustrated. Once again, the atheist does not have the answer.
Atheists can be just as blinded by their own "proudly" developed convictions as religious folks. Jus' sayin...

The caller didn't realize the different types of infinity and the hosts didn't either...

This is where the mathematicians cringe.
