Space shuttle Endeavour STS-118 launch on August 8, 2007 from a campsite along 1A1 on Florida's Space Coast.
You can watch launches directly from Gulf Harbors (westcoast of Florida along the Gulf of Mexico). However, the drive to the Florida's Space Coast from Gulf Harbors in New Port Richey is only a couple of hours and you'll get to see, hear, and FEEL the shuttle engines blast the craft into orbit!

"The rocket boosters are falling" ... so cool.
I'm from the UK and watched this launch from Cocoa Beach with my 6 year old and 4 year old sons. All I remember is my 6 year old saying "that's the coolest thing I've ever seen" whilst I bawled my eyes out as the huge bass rumble washed over us. A magical experience and no other country can match this so ... thank you for your tax dollars ;)
