I was fortunate enough to see Tull in concert several times in the 70's and each concert seemed to just get better than the one before. Without a doubt, Ian Anderson was one of the top frontmen (and flute players) in rock n; roll. This song said more to me about God than so many chuch sermins ever had...no, he's not the kind you have to ''wind up'' on Sundays. Excellent song...thanks for posting it.

Sweeping comment on the human condition.

I dont know why this song is not as popular as the most popular songs of Tull. For me it's one of the best without any doubt, the chord sucesion is so beautiful...

I heard an interview once where Ian Anderson was asked to label Jethro Tull's music. He called it "Art Rock". And it is. Tull was not really interested in commercial success. They toured more than any band, and they did it to bring the music live to the people. It was about the music. And it might have been rock or folk, but who really cares? They had so many great songs!

what a great album.
is this track mysteriously quieter (overall level-wise) on the album for everyone or just me?
