This country will remain balkanized and divided as long as fools like those in positions of power and authority continue to insist on affirmative action. No amount of blather about "reconciliation" and "healing" will suffice. We either return to a full-blown meritocracy or we go down. There are no shades of gray here.

I like what she says about the application... why the heck should I even mark my race on an application, should my qualifications speak for themselves.
-
I find your understanding of affirmative action to be disgusting. First of all, your example portrays the black candidate as less motivated, which certainly alludes to your impression of African-Americans. Secondly, affirmative action does not set up quotas. Read the fucking law.

In addition, college educated blacks are unemployed at a 2.5% higher rate than college-educated whites. An MIT study showed that even when qualifications are identical, people with black-sounding names are 50% less likely to be called back than people with white-sounding names. A New York City study showed that even blacks with no criminal records were hired less or called back less by employers than whites with a criminal record.

Wow, I have no idea why I just listened to a fucking idiot ramble about a topic she knows nothing about. Ryan's ACT score was pathetic. If he's going to a top university, that will clearly be a subpar score. Your example is just unrealistic.
As you and I are beneficiaries of white privilege, it's hard for us to recognize this institutionalized racism. I doubt you ever will, as you're likely deliberately ignorant on the subject. Blacks are unemployed at a 6% higher rate than whites.

thats not true do research white women have benifited more from affirmitive action then colored people
-
You are an idiot and should of done a little more research before you made these claims. Why do people always associate affirmative action with african americans. Affirmative action was put into place by Kennedy as a way to increase diversity in the work place. In fact you as a white woman benefited the most from affirmative action through out its existence.

you seem to be a pretty smart person. why should they even have to ask your race on the college application?

This commentary is solely based on this person's one sided opinion. This individual has probably been provided with everything they could ever ask for and has no clue what is going on in the real world. Your idealisms are not based on facts only opinions. Yes if America was based exclusively on fairness and good will toward all men then your comments would have some ground to stand on, but as we all know it is not.

Firstly, the defination of a commentary is an explaination or interpretation, so yes, this is obviously my one sided opinion.
Secondly, it would be much more effective to address the ideas presented in this video rather than attack my upbringing, which was far from ideal, if it matters at all.
No, American is not fair, just like Europe is not fair and life is not fair; however, I see no reason to combat injustice with more injustice.
