I wanted to make a landscape video from another place that I like - Fynshoved (The head of Fyn) which is the northern tip of the island where I live. However, the heat/sun today was killing me (30+ C / 86+ F) and my tripod head started to malfunction. After 2 hours in the sun, I had about 10 shots 'in the box' of which 3 were out of focus. I decided to call it a day and headed home. Let this be a reprise to my 'Mols in July' video. That way, I don't have to waste the footage :)

The wind turbines in the intro shot are about 11 km / 7 miles away and in the background (15 km away, you see the island of Samsø). I was using my 200mm f/2.8L lens with a 2x extender giving me 400mm at f/5.6. This is where the limitations of a 35mm adapter shows up. The grain from the vibrating ground glass inside the adapter shows up. Also, I used my Cokin P polarizer to keep the shutter speed down to 1/25 (PAL). A fast shutter speed of about 1/100 and above will also show the grain of the ground glass. The Letus Ultimate will solve those problems, but it's USD 4.500,-, so I'll keep my Mini and live with the grain...

  • very nice video.

did you use HVX200 & Letus ultimate?

  • HG10 and Letus mini

  • What lense did you use along with the letus adopter? what is the aperture setting?

You got beautiful landscape here..Let me know I wanna see if i could do the same at u..

  • Thank you. The info is in the text to the right. Click 'more info' :)

  • Aperture was f/2.8 in all shots...

  • As you know, you have to focus in on the focus screen. I just figured this could be kind of tedious without a focus ring

  • OK. I see.

I only did this once, since I haven't taken the adapter off since then.

I let the auto focus do most of the work and then changed over to manual focus to do the rest. On the HG10, you control manual focus with the buttons under the LCD. This is not as easy to do as if I had a focusing wheel (as on the HV30). However, I also don't get to accidentally touch the focus now - which is a good thing...
