May God give you rest, Harvey Milk. You fought and died for love.

Absolutely beautiful documentary. Harvey Milk was such an incredible person. I cried my eyes out in the scenes and interviews about his death.

I stared watching the movie, because I love Sean Penn, then saw him kiss James Franco, turned it off and watched something else.

They didn't try; they succeeded. And God(s) bless them for doing so! Milk was/is an american hero and deserves recognition for being as such.

You walk into a gay bar in the heart of San Francisco, then try saying that there isn't any gay culture...

I agree. I think a small edit at the end of the documentary, just to let people know that White committed suicide in 1985, would have been appropriate. I understand the concern about preserving the original version of the documentary, but due to the importance of this particular fact, I think it should have been added, maybe right before the ending credits or something.

At 47:11 I think Milk was asking a bit too much to gay people. I understand that he wanted people to take courage and come out, especially since they had made so much progress up to that point, and people who were still in the closet should have been encouraged by those results. However, people come from different backgrounds, there is no black and white areas, there are a lot of grey areas to consider too. After all, isn't it part of one's human rights to decide what to do?
