NBC most likely didn't catch it until it was too late; Dave is known for those sort of tricks, and he's gotten damn good at them over the years. However, most likely the 'old' theme was a reference to....well, SOMETHING to do with NBC. Wasn't there a writer's strike while Dave was over there?
