it is the relationship between counsellor and therapist that is of upmost importance. Skills and problem solving are child's play in comparison. Whatever she gains from this session is not worth the detrimental messages she receives from the interaction itself.

@rharpum You arent kidding :D But yes this was a role play just to model the steps as they happen so ppl can clearly delineate them. I work with several elderly people who are looking to make change and this therapy is extremely difficult because of hugely reduced literacy skills and very poor retention. Also with many long term solvent abusers. This is a good therapy but requires a fairly high degree of functioning.

I wish I had a clients that responded to CBT interventions as well as this client did. The demonstration and interaction was good but, I have to say that in all my time as CBT therapist the process has never gone as smoothly as it did in this clip. There always seem to be some resistance to change. However, it is a useful demonstration of how CBT is used to empower clients to move forward.

This has helped me in my counselling studies.
Good demo - well-directed by counsellor to empower the client. Thanks for posting this, it helped me get a better handle on CBT in action.

This video show the therapist empowering the client to find solutions/resolutions to what her presenting concerns are. Well done. Psychotherapy/counseling is a GREAT profession!
