Actually, the cartoon was about (pause for dramatic effect) a pink panther. It was a silent cartoon that is still today considered a classic, with its witty, nonverbal jokes and hillarious slapstick. I believe the cartoon was based on the opening of the original Pink Panther film that starred (if I'm remembering correctly) Peter Sellers. THAT one was about Inspector Closeau.

While this film isn't exactly Citizen Kane, I don't see why it was so ravaged by critics. I thought it was very funny and had a pretty good (but in hindsight kinda obvious) twist.
