I don't have a title for this poem. It was inspired by a video by infamouschris1

It's hard to fit in
When you're obviously different
Some people don't accept you
And it's hard to make friends
But hard isn't impossible
I'm not mixed race
But I think I'm just like you
In school, I tried hanging out with the nerds
And the cool dudes
See, I never really saw myself as being a black man
Just a man, that just happened to have black skin
It's a shame that we focus on our differences
When the only real difference is
Is our piousness
And that's something only God sees
As human beings we're very short-sighted
We only see when we open our eyelids
And even then, what's only in front of us
We don't know what happens when the door shuts
Which means, we would really make a terrible judge
Instead of hate, let's try and spread love
And look for the good in people
Like the old saying goes
If you can't say anything nice
Don't say anything at all

  • "If you can't say anything nice , don't say anything at all"! God bless you man!

  • My grandmother always said that saying .....I swear I don't ever remember her ever...ever...saying anything bad about anyone ...ever. she lived to be 90. I can't hold a candle to her.....ever.

  • Wow, that story is powerful. He stopped smiling because of racism. Parents have to teach their children about racism, especially children of color. It is something we cannot ignore.

  • I love it!! Thanks for sharing it!

  • haha i agree :]
