If the god you believe in uses the threat of eternal hell fire, torture and torment as the incentive to love and obey him I would rather endure that punishment than serve such a tyrant

He also uses as means of encouragement the eternal life of bliss in Paradise full of delight and satisfaction. So He deals with both and it is upon the humans to make the right and wise move.
