  • Alarippu- the 1st full dance repertoire that we learn in Bharatanatyam, though it usually ends up being our least favorite one as it is rather elementary. In the long run, we usually end up falling in love with either the Varanam or the Thillana (for me, it was the Varanam that I performed for my Arangetram)! Not saying anything about this particular dancer btw..She is a very good teacher and explains things very well. In fact, my Alarippu was almost identical to this one! Thanks for uploading:)

  • Very educational. Thank you.

  • This is really great, we follow a style that's a tiny bit different, but it's the same really in all other movements. This is really helpful to me, thank you so much :-)

  • i also take bharatanatyam and we learned 3 dances so far and now we are learning the alaripu i didn't know you can look up too i only thought it was only right and left but anyway this is not how my teacher made up the dance in my alaripu we only looked right and left and we changed the steps.I would do a video responce but my teacher said we can not post any videos on youtube,facebook.. my teacher won't let us post videos because she thinks other teachers are going to steal her coreography. :)

  • you do it different to the way i do it..

    =S

  • thanks..the hand movements where to give jerk to the shoulder was very helpful.
