Ouch! All my deepest, darkest fears in cartoon form. Painfully acute.

I disagree with the conclusion. Your just switching one set of rules for another in order to make it seem like there is a better option than participating in the artconomy. I believe that neither system has any pros or cons. Motivation and style are separate from the art itself. Of course you're not going to see a more original form of art because people come to expect certain things when they go into a situation. You can break away from that easily, but its your own responsibility.

sometimes people use art for other reasons, it can be cathardic, hedonistic, defragmenting or just the piss that comes out of the pen.

Of God, I love hearing Kiwi accents online. It's surreal yet comforting somehow.

I think art isn't always about self affirmation, mostly it is about the artist opinions, and self view on certain topics and things, this is how he sees the world and an artwork is an effect of his thoughts, a lot of artist don't do art for themselves. It's like a book to a writter he says what's on his mind, not to wait for other's opinions but to speak to the viewer about what he thinks about certain topics

Great animation, everything I already knew about art, plus some new ideas wrapped up in a neat package with a sprinkling of Product Placement!

Now I know I had some Haagan Daas in my fridge....
