My Troy University Honors Recital performance in November '08. The first piece is "Sapphische Ode" by Brahms and the second is "Honor and Arms" by Handel. A few small mistakes but overall I was happy with what I accomplished.

  • OMG so fast!!!! pls no!!! voice is good, all the rest is :-(

  • @chaoticflame5: You must mean Sapphische Ode too fast.

A beautiful voice... Keep it up!

You need to work a bit more on the German vowels, though: when to open and close the Eh (ie bewEgten is a closed vowel), and when to sing an u and when and ü, and when to have a voiced and unvoices S - Süsser, for example, is pronounced Züsser, as in "Raise" rather than "Race". The Ls need to be italian, at the front of the mouth, rather than American L at the back teeth. Very promising, though, good work.

  • Sorry, I meant too slow for Honor and Arms, but even that was a decent tempo, I guess. I, personally, would've taken the Handel a little faster.

  • @chaoticflame5 , too slow?

  • great voice!

    and performance!

  • Very well done; especially Honor and Arms is a difficult piece to perform.

  • Decent performance of both pieces. just a couple of things:

Sapphische Ode: You need to work on keeping a legato line. It wasn't extremely choppy, but it wasn't as legato as it needed to be. There was also a lack of expression in this piece. It seemed more like you were singing the words and thinking about your technique or how you sounded more than what you were saying actually meant. Tempo was also too slow

Honor and Arms: In the B section (Vanquish a slave), your vowels were WAY to spread.
