Since May 2010, a cholera epidemic has been raging in Cameroon, in particular in the Extreme North. As of October 3, it has led to 7 869 cases including 515 deaths.
In Cameroon, less than half the rural population has access to clean water (47%) and sanitation (42%).
Diarrhea is one of the main causes of death in children under five years of age. This is due to a lack of access to water, sanitation and health care.
