Ecco alcuni brani di musicisti del passato facenti parte della scuola dell'Ars antiqua, i cui principali esponenti furono Magister Leoninus e Magister Perotinus. Essi sono inoltre i primi compositori antichi di cui si abbia notizia. Sono qui presentati due brani: il primo è anonimo, risalente al sec..XIII ca.: "Vetus abit littera"; il secondo, "Gloria: redemptori meo", è di Magister Leoninus.

  • Keep in mind that this is an example of the ars antiqua ("old art" from the 13th century, i.e. conducti and early motets).

    The ars nova coincided with the development of notation systems beyond the basic rhythmic modes. However, this particular interpretation clearly applies the first mode (long-short, long-short).
