Jack Scott & The Chantones arranged this tune in the studio while recording the entire Gospel album. Every song in this album was arranged during the 2 days in the studio, then immediately recorded. I was there.
@sparkescadman this song was used as the theme for the movie inherit the wind about the scopes monkey trial a teacher who was in trouble for teaching the theory of evolution that was on of clarence darrows big cases spencer tracy played him in the movie
In those days, Billy Graham was popular, folks talked about getting saved, and even Elvis sang evangelical songs. Even in many mainline churches and New York City this was there. It would never happen in today's world.
This reminds me of something that Mr. Pat Boone would sing about (Glory Be). Anyway I really dig Jacks deep voice & always have it's unlike Johnny Cash singing. I dig many of Jacks top 40 hits but not this one, I can't believe I'm gonna hit on Jack Scott like this but I definetly dislike this song & I'll prove it. . Jack, I remember you best for your "Steps One, Two & Three", which is still unav....who will be an angel & post it already?, cause I do believe in angels okey.THX
