The earliest recordings were vaudeville routines. This one was recorded and issued about 1905 on Columbia Record label. This label was used until about 1907. The performer here is Steve Porter, a popular 'actor' and comedian.
The record is a bit scratchy and the audio is fairly primitive, but it is over 100 years old. Fun and interesting. Enjoy!

This comedy recording by Mr. Porter is done in an Irish dialect. Many old Vaudeville routines from this era were frequently done this way for comic effect.
