I got to see his rig around '88 or so. It was always breaking down. He ran the Elite into another Elite pre amp that was rack mounted, then ran into a L5 who's pre amp section was housed in another rack mounted enclosure. That ran into a stereo tube power amp with effects that were routed in parallel with a rack mounted mixer. I never saw anything so weird in my life & he was touring the planet with this stuff! It drove him nuts. Sounded magical though. I re created the rig for myself.

AMAZING!! Love it dude! You have Ty's exact tone from the Gretchen album! Killer! :D

You've definitely got Ty's tone and style down to a science. You're a great player, man. I wish Ty would dust off his original gear, at least for recording purposes. Any idea if King's X is still together? Take it easy!

You remain an incredible badass. Thanks for taking the time and energy to post and share. Also, you can get REALLY close to that tone with the Paul Trombetta MiniBone, and DiMarzio Area 58s through a little VHT Special 6 with an E34L in it. Taken me 15 years to find that, though...

Its just so darn eerie how close you've gotten to Ty's early tone. Awesome as always. Cheers!
