I see a lot of videos for starting fire by rubbing sticks together, lens and the sun even the bottom of pop cans. but if your lost, wet cold and scared. there is nothing like water prof matches,a lighter and best of all a fire steel. use the right tool for the job and have them in your pack, on your belt, in your pockets, if you lose one you will have more with you. rubbing sticks together to make fire is great fun but never rely on it to save your life or you will die.use fire starting tools
