comparing him to Jimmy Page is like comparing fine scotch to fine wine : it all boils down to personal taste!

Dr Brian May Phd. Home made guitar, with pick ups he and his Dad made in their back yard shed.

You can play like that? Very good. Me too. Gold star to us. Doesn't negate the fact that Brian May is a 65 year old man that wasn't brought up on the same beginner techniques we were, he helped create them. After 40 odd years of guitar playing he can still make a cool sounding solo that isn't based on speed. It's based on what sounds he can make with the guitar. When I get to 65 years old I'll be happy if I'm able to keep poo inside my body long enough to make it to the toilet.

totalmente de acuerdo!! nunca cuestione lo legendario de May!! Pero ante tal guitarrista, me sentí muy decepcionado por ESTE solo. Me parece que quedó como una ''estúpida figura de la mercadotecnia''

His Brighton Rock solo is terrible, i'll give you that, I can't believe he still thinks that he can get away with this. But to call him over-rated is completely missing the point. His ability to harmonise with guitars is absolutely fantastic and has inspired many guitarists, Steve Vai included. He's also a great songwriter, decent singer and can play many instruments. Listen to his jazz band solo at the end of 'Good Company' and come back and tell me he's over-rated.

The way he used the delay was cool, if u can pick out the reverb and delay from the sound and watch his left hand, u do notice it isn't the most technically challenging solo, but it is a good solo, and it is well developed. Also, listen to the expression as he bends the string on the longer notes, it takes passion and skill to do that that often and not make it lose the effect. Jimmy page will always remain my top guitarist, but Brian may is still up there. Gotta love Queen, and rip Freddie mer
