Halli, GREAT info the process..but here's a question for y'all. In making a new purchase of a "suppressor", I am registering for a SPECIFIC STATE & Location etc. How messy does it get if I move to another state that may have an issue with private/civilian ownership? Given the atmosphere inside the Beltway, this could be a real can of worms...right?

If you move to a state where suppressors aren't legal, you won't be able to take it there with you. You would need to leave it in a state where it is legal.
If you move to a state where the suppressor is legal, that isn't a problem at all.

I thought in Michigan, if you purchased a silencer as a trust, you didn't have to pay the $200 tax stamp because you are not required to get your fingerprints taken or obtain the signature from the cheif of police. Do Michigan residents that purchase as Trusts still have to pay the $200 tax stamp? If so, why?

Even with the trust, you still have to pay the $200 tax stamp. That is a federal thing that applies to everyone - regardless of how you choose to register. (It's part of the National Firearms Act.)
You are right that if you use a trust you don't need a CLEO signature or fingerprints.

Would you say that a trust is the best way to go?
