This is the "choral" part of the "Choral Fantasy" by Beethoven. Sung by a huge Russian choir (including a boys choir) with orchestra conducted by Vladimir Fedoseyev in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. This was the finale of a June 22 concert commemorating the Russian victory over the German fascists in WWII. I remember that, ironically, the piano soloist was German (a gesture, I suppose). Note the incredible acoustics experienced from my spot in the balcony. I also remember that Alexander Solzhinitsyn was in the audience.

  • Please excuse me, Elisabeth, but it wasn't the concert commemorating the Soviet victory over the Germans in WWII. It was the concert commemorating the Soviet victory over the fascism.

  • @222mozart Of course, you are correct. I will change my description. Thank you.

  • Did anyone else hear a guy in the audience, near the camera, joining in there at 0:42? Maybe it was the camera operator himself! A little amateur outing into the joys of Beethoven's choral music.

  • @hughvane - That was my Russian friend who has a couple of PhDs from the Moscow Conservatory in choral conducting...He just can't help himself....lol!

  • My own President understands enabling (education) and crowding out (lack of time, judging and scapegoating, transference, pacification and arrogance,) but he is not JFK. He is not transformed. You have to understand those who would scapegoat and be arrogant and say NO. REMOVE THE SPACES. NOTEPAD HELPS. TEDDY ROOSEVELT WOULD BE PLEASED. goo . gl / mdKIE
  • It comes down to the nature of information for us, as it

    did for Beethoven.

He most definitely felt the female voice would appeal best.

Human voices are the most extravagent instrument, the female better able to appeal.

  • wow, beethoven is awesome, so complex

  • watch also :)

HÉLÈNE GRIMAUD - The Emperor Concerto (Beethoven) HD
