This is a whole new technique for me and I can't imagine anyone performing this method better than you do
-
Too cool. If there was ever an instrument that lent itself to idiosyncratic techniques, the banjo is it.
-
Like the technique, I'm going to try that myself. I liked the tune too.

My goodtime had good tone, but it didn't sound like a Bluegrass banjo. Yours sound really good, really works well with your style of playing. Keep up the good pickin.
-
Unique style but well played...enjoyed it very much...
-
Weird style but great playing.

So is your Goodtime modified, or is Deering making models like that now? I use to have a Goodtime Special, but I had to sell when I was sophmore in college to help pay tuition.

It's modified, but with Deering's consent. I bought it from Zepp Country Music in NC and they scooped the neck, put on a Renaissance head and Moon bridge. It also came with a hardshell case. It's a professional job and, in my opinion, makes a standard Goodtime sound like a pretty expensive clawhammer banjo.
