Lady Sylvanas - Lament of the Highborne

There are a ton of these I know but I made one for myself on my own alt because it's such an awesome quest that it was worth my time.

That being said...
After Prince Arthas betrayed and murdered his father, his blood lust and quest for power knew no end. He began to overrun and conquer all foes that stood in his way. Sylvanas Windrunner, the High Elf Ranger General of Silvermoon City, made all attempts to prevent Arthas from destroying the city but failed. Finally meeting face to face inside the walls of Silvermoon, Arthas did not kill Sylvanas like she asked. Rather, he brought her back as an undead to serve under the Lich King and charged her with finishing the destruction of Silvermoon City. All of this against her will.

Sylvanas, using the Dreadlord Varimathras and the banshees, came to the city of Lordaeron. Once ruled by humans, it was overtaken by Varimathras' brother, Balnazar. Grand Marshal Garithos, the former ruler of Lordaeron, aided Sylvanas in the war against Balnazar for the city, but after Varimathras killed his brother, Sylvanas then revealed her true intentions and killed Garithos.

With Balnazar and Garithos dead, Sylvanas, now the Banshee Queen, took the city as her own and resides there to this day with Varimathras at her side in the depths of Undercity.

In a quest offered in The Burning Crusade you are charged with returning a lost necklace to Lady Sylvanas. Upon seeing the necklace from her sister Alleria, Sylvanas laments of the past when Arthas came to destroy Silvermoon, thus showing that there is still a Elven heart in her and that she is not completely forsaken.

and i would say you all need to read up on your lore before posting, they are all night elves,( high elves was a statice in their society political ) then after the wars when elves started to pull away from the magic of the well and turning more to a natural magic, the blood elves split off wanting to retain the power they had from the well, the nagas also from the high elves were twisted and changed in apperence from the magics of the well when the destructoin of the 1st war took place.

Wrong, the night elves and the high elves are cousins. There is a stark difference. The night elves and high elves used to commingle but were always separate as a race. The blood elves are former high elves.

High elves were never night elves. Blood elves are former high elves but were never night elves.

So, all three are related but that is it.

The high elves, or quel'dorei ("children of noble birth" in Darnassian and "high elves" in Thalassian), are a race descended from the Highborne night elves who left Kalimdor and settled in the Eastern Kingdoms, founding Quel'Thalas.

They were never, and will never be Highborne [Night] Elves. The are Highborne Elves. There is no "Night" in there and there never was. Period. Read the War of The Ancients trilogy for any other questions you might have.

@hunterseitz98 She looks like a high elf lol. She died a High Elf and retains the features of said race. Sin'Dorei came after her death.

@congelatore They weren't separate as a race. The original Highborne aka the Quel'Dorei were just upper class elves and only evolved into a separate race when they left Kalimdor and took up a diurnal sleep cycle and used the Sunwell as their new fount of power. In time the Quel'Dorei evolved into a new race your right that they are cousins but the origins of the High Elves will always be in the Kal'Dorei or Night Elves.

@nuttyjunior i think that they didnt have a real design for her yet as a high elf/ banshee, so they made her look similiar to a night elf

@obie12003 Sylvannas wasnt a bloodelf,she was a Highelf...Bloodelves changed their former "high elven' names after Arthas created the dead scar and betrayed them.
