Most Firefighters now a days are crossed trained between, EMT/ Paramedic and Firefighter. I know the dept i volunteered at The engine was manned by 3 firefighters which were atleast 2 EMTs and 1 Paramedic and also were ALS units(advanced life support). The reason is for a quicker response to the injured and also more man power on the scene. Also all firefighters must be trained as a first responder.

NsTrainMan07 6 months ago
@NsTrainMan07 >>>---> E = Emegency - M = Medical - S= Services. The term in relation to this video means - a service providing out-of-hospital acute care and transport , in reality it means all Emergency Medical Services from Ambulances to Specilized Third level of Medical Care passing through Primary Care Giver Services

EMS? Medical Call yes? Why do you send out a fire appliance to a medical call?
(I've just noticed that sounded sarcastic, It wasn't meant to be: it is a genuine question)

@falcon9278 >>>---> Our fire department here is the ems service. On this particular call if was for an injured child and the closest appliance was this engine which in manned by at least one EMT. A medic unit was also dispatched which was located several minutes more away from the scene. The engine co. usually gets on the scene and performs first aid and does an initial assessment and advise the medic unit so they can bring in the appropriate equipment to treat the patient.
