Prednisone, As Experienced By The Patient

My tonsils have been swollen since December its now June. I have tonsillitis. And they gave me a prescription for Prednisone 10 MG. I have to take 6 a day for 2 days. Then 4 a day for 2 days, and 2 a day for 2 days. I started today and I took a quick nap and i thought i pissed in the bed, but it was sweat. My shirt was soaked especially around the neck area and my back. I could squeeze the sweat out my shirt and I have heavy eyes. Is this a common side effect from this medication? Thanks!

@MrAUFANATIC I don't recall that as a side effect of Prednisone, but I had sweats like that before I was diagnosed with Wegener's granulomatosis. Though it is unlikely you have the same diseaqse as me, that kind of sweating is notable. You should bring it up with your doctor the next time you have an appointment, and get his professional assessment.

@MrAUFANATIC There never seems to be an end to the awful things this drug can do to your body. It encourages me to be more assertive with doctors (in a nice way, of course!) when they prescribe a new drug. The sweating business is a new one to me, and I appreciate knowing about your experience, as should anyone reading through the comments to this video.

You guys take them for a day and think its fucking bad, imagine being my age and taking prednisone you guys have no fucking idea, i swaure.

I was referring specifically to prednisone used for autoimmune diseases, but the same should also apply if you are taking a lower dose; take doses at equally spaced times and taper off the dosage...

The doctor who prescribed just a six day course of prednisone must not have much experience, going from 60 mg daily to 0mg in six days is very reckless...

Prednisone suppresses natural cortisol production which may lead to Addisson's- like symptoms (sweating, confusion, dizziness; I thought I was having a heat stroke!) if you miss a dose or you dosage is reduced too quickly. If you feel this way, immediately take your next dose, drink some fluids, and take a cool shower! Then talk to your doctor about the frequency and strength of your dose....
